Website privacy notice

Version 2.1.1Last updated

This notice explains what happens to information when you visit this website. This notice covers MyBC Health's websites. It does not cover the MyBC app.

Who publishes this website

This website is published by MyBC Health.

MyBC Health, 2045 W Grand Ave Ste B, PMB 508822, Chicago, Illinois 60612-1577. Phone: 312-723-0772.

What this website does not use

This website does not use:

  • advertising cookies or advertising tools
  • scripts, fonts or images from other companies' servers, except Google Analytics if you allow it

You do not have to give us any information to read this website.

Analytics, only if you allow it

When you first visit, we ask whether we may use Google Analytics. Until you choose "Allow analytics", it does not load and sets no cookie.

If you allow it, Google Analytics sets two cookies (_ga and one starting _ga_) that last up to 13 months. Your browser tells Google the address and title of each page you open here, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, screen size and language, how long the page was open, and a rough location worked out from your IP address. Google says it does not log or store IP addresses.

We also count clicks on the "Ask your care team about MyBC" buttons, on opening a common question, and on our email addresses. We record which one, never anything you write.

Because this website is about breast cancer, a visit could suggest an interest in breast cancer. That is why analytics is off unless you allow it.

We have turned off Google signals and advertising features. We keep detailed analytics data for 2 months.

If you choose "No thanks", nothing is sent to Google. We remember your choice in your browser so we don't ask again, if your browser allows it. If your browser blocks this, we will ask on each visit, and analytics stays off until you choose.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics stays off, and the Analytics choices button shows that.

You can change your mind at any time with "Analytics choices" at the bottom of each page (the note for your care team has no analytics and no control). If you turn analytics off, we stop it and delete its cookies from this website.

Analytics is never used on the note for your care team.

Hosting logs

Our hosting provider is Firebase Hosting, a Google service. Like most web hosts, it keeps standard server logs.

These logs include your IP address and the pages you visit. Google keeps them for a limited period, under its own retention rules. We do not use them to identify visitors.

If you join the waitlist or send us an inquiry

Both of our websites have forms. The waitlist form is for people who want to hear when the MyBC app is ready. The partner form is for organizations that want to work with us. Filling in a form is optional.

The waitlist form asks for your first name, your email address and which word best describes you (patient, caregiver, clinician, researcher or other). The partner form asks for your name, work email, organization, role, what you are interested in and a message. We also keep the sentence you agreed to and the date you sent the form. The forms do not ask about your health. Please do not put health information in the message box.

We do not store your IP address or browser details with your form. To stop misuse, we keep a coded version of your IP address and email address for up to a day. Then we delete it.

We use your details only to do what you asked: to tell you about the app and the waitlist, or to reply to your inquiry. We do not use them for advertising, and we do not sell them.

Your form is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), in the United States. Only MyBC Health has access to the forms we store.

We keep your form for up to 24 months, and then it is deleted automatically. We delete it sooner if you ask us to.

To have your details deleted, email the privacy address in the Contact section at the end of this page. Say which form you used and the email address you gave. We will delete your details within 30 days and email you when it is done. You can also ask to see what we hold about you.

If you choose to email us

Emailing us is optional. If you do, only MyBC Health reads your message. We use it only to reply to you, never for your medical care. We delete it once we have answered you, or as soon as we read it if no reply is needed.

Please do not put health information in an email. If you do, we will not use it for your care. We will delete it as described above.

Email is not watched in real time. Do not use email in an emergency. If you need help now, see the safety guidance at the end of this page.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising.

This website is not medical advice

This website gives general information about MyBC. It is not medical advice. It is not an emergency service.
